Global Pharmaceutical Corporation

We achieved this together:

Strong regional team spirit
Trust and openness within the team
Clarity through team purpose
Long-term goals and regional initiatives
Five Winning Behaviors

1. Client Situation

A regional team in a global pharmaceutical corporation was newly established. Members come from 10 different countries and often see themselves as representatives of their home countries, which impairs team spirit. Despite their high revenue contribution, the region has little influence on global decisions.

2. Objectives

The goal of the team coaching was to develop a strong regional team spirit that enables countries in the region to learn more intensively from one another and to deploy resources where they are most urgently needed. By collaboratively implementing global initiatives as a united team, rather than acting in isolation as individual nations, valuable synergies were to be created. The region’s influence on global decisions was to be strengthened by presenting itself as a cohesive unit rather than representing differing viewpoints of individual countries.

3. Approach

Interviews

Prior to the three-day team coaching, individual interviews were conducted with team members. These helped to better understand their individual situations and expectations, allowing the coaching to be tailored accordingly.

Three-Day Team Coaching

In our three-day team coaching, trust, clarity, and shared alignment within the leadership team were strengthened.

On the first day, team members got to know each other more deeply by sharing their values, strengths, visions, and personal backgrounds. This laid the foundation for trust and enabled the team to develop a vision of their shared “Dream Team.”

On the second day, the team sharpened its strategic focus. Together, they crafted their purpose – the central question of why the regional team exists and what contribution it makes to the organization’s success. Long-term goals were derived from this and translated into specific regional initiatives.

On the third day, the team focused on the behaviors that would drive them forward in the long term. They identified five “Winning Behaviors” and specified these with daily teamwork examples. In conclusion, each team member committed to individual actions to promote the shared growth and success of the team.

4. Results

  • Developed a strong regional team spirit
  • Increased trust and openness within the team
  • Clarity and direction through team purpose
  • Defined long-term goals with regional initiatives
  • Focused on five Winning Behaviors

5. Next Steps

The regional initiatives have successfully launched. The team’s confident presence is leading to significant input into global strategies. Resources are being allocated efficiently, and talent development is being strengthened. Another team coaching session for evaluation and further development of team spirit is already in planning.
